St. George Island cool!

After two weeks of 100 degree temperature, it was too hot to be too much for Spike the cat population concerned about the mouse in our house. With record heat this summer, I decided to take away a couple of days my schedule and adjustment to the beach, where the winds of summer things were cool! I know it sounds crazy, but in August from the Gulf of Mexico breezes in the afternoon and late evening, very nice. In fact it was colder in Florida than it was in my houseAlabama.

Like a miracle preferred rental house was on our freely on St. George Island, just four miles above the bridge from Apalachicola, Florida. I love this fishery, because you do not have a boat to catch enough for dinner. Just buy a few steps from the shrimp bait shop, they put in the freezer until you are ready for it and you're set.

I usually start my day of fishing in the Gulf of St. George Island State Park The older I get, the moreI like to sleep late. As the park does not open until 08:00 clock, however, do not waste time sleeping accommodation. I can not really call a vacation, because I already had three this year. Four seems a bit 'too good.

No matter what time of year is, I always catch fish around the island. A bait shop owners in Apalachicola once told me that "If you can not fish on St. George Island, you're stupid!"

He was right! This particularMorning I was fishing on the Gulf island. Even on the hottest days of summer, the surf fishing is still good in the early hours of the morning, when all the food by the plaice Pompano seek dry at all. This is the time to throw the bait of shrimp or sand fleas and let nature do the rest.

During my visit to this beautiful area in spring, I took some bait on a hook on my line test of 30 pounds and went in the direction of Cancun! I have no doubt that hethere now, but always the optimist, I tried again in the same place every time that fish these waters.

This time I'm not even a strike until I dug into the sand and started a couple of fleas. Let not be fooled by the name. Florida has its share of real fleas that leave a nasty sting if you bite. They jump like fleas, but not bad for 6 days. In fact, do not even know you have been bitten. If you have been attacked by these pests,You'll know in about a week! So beware! They itch like crazy!

Fleas of bait I'm actually small crustaceans, sometimes known as mole crabs. Catch them on the beach to the waterline only if the waves are back. You'll see these little holes along the water and then start digging sand from the hole as quickly as possible. If you're fast enough, you will also have taken a sand flea.

Within minutes of my bait hit the bottomGulf of Mexico, it was my rod nearly jumped out of the sand. I shuddered and quickly realized that I had a nice fish. After a few minutes of wrestling him to the bank I saw that I was a brook trout, which was a bit 'unusual because they are not normally caught in the country before September or October.

A few minutes later, without further action, I packed my things and walked across the sand on the park and my truck. I wanted to fish the bay of the island beforeI hot enough to send the fish into deeper water. This is my favorite area to fish in the morning and I never managed to catch a fish on this side of the island.

There are sand bars and oyster beds throughout the bay grass and down the island. All types of fish, including moving the redfish, speckled trout, whiting and mackerel among the seagrass beds and oyster bar food hunting. I use a spoon or a silver and gold have always been lucky.
