George Balanchine's choreography is the undisputed genius of the twentieth century. He co-founded a great ballet company and school, developed a method of technique and training that produces the fastest ever seen dancers and created more than a hundred ballets. He has worked with Lincoln Kirstein, who was a spiritual and talented writers and poets.
George Balanchine was born in 1904 in St. Petersburg and was a graduate of the School of the Imperial Theatre. LeftRussia and became a ballet master at the Diaghilev Ballets Russes in Monte Carlo. During this period, he choreographed his first masterpiece, Apollon Musagete, later known as Apollo, and began his lifelong collaboration with Stravinsky.
